“…But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

1 John 4:10 This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.

It is overwhelming when we realize how much we are loved. In the story of Abraham and Isaac, when God commanded Abraham to sacrifice his one and only son, the son of promise, as the bible says. We are filled with compassion for Abraham over how difficult this must have been for him. Isaac carried the wood up the mountain for his sacrifice, just as Christ carried His cross up the mountain for His sacrifice. God spared Isaac, but did not spare His only son. Heaven’s best the unblemished, perfect sacrifice was given for us! So yes, we are loved greatly and the purchase of our sins was an over payment.  God is aware of all that we face and has compassion for us in all we face. He is with us always and the moment we turn to Him he is there. The key is to more and more have a revelation of His love for us and how great and indescribable it is. We receive a revelation of His love through the word. We get this when we read and hear about our Lord and Savior. This in turn increases our faith and produces greater love in us.

Then we turn to another word out of John.

John 16:33 I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

Our perfect lamb and Bridegroom Jesus overcame the world. We have the same power to overcome that He has through the Holy Spirit. Sometimes we become tired by circumstances. In these times let us take heart and see the greatness of our God and Jesus which words could never describe. We then no longer see the difficulty but our loving savior. See that Jesus is greater, our God is greater than anything we face and know that our God hears us when we cry out to him. The bible says that the Israelite’s when they were in Egypt groaned and God heard and answered their cry and delivered them. So even a groan reached the throne of God. In the same way when we see Jesus and his greatness and call He will answer and provide the strength, peace and the means out  of our situation, the solution. It also says in the bible that Jesus has all things under His feet, including whatever we are facing right now.

So take heart and rest in the finished work of Jesus.
